This
spring and summer we are on the road, traveling a lot! In April
and May we were traveling for two weeks, while Jim preached Bible
conferences in Birmingham, AL and Galax, VA.
While Jim shared the Principles of a
God-centered Church at Huffman Baptist Church in Birmingham, Becky
enjoyed sitting with the man who baptized her, Pastor Jack Green.
And what a joy to share Romans 8 with the
people of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Galax, Virginia. Those folks
really know how to have church both during and after church!
For
five weeks we were home and Jim preached his weeknight Bible studies,
Men in Motion, and Sundays in local churches. Then on June 20 we left
home to head north. Jim preached at the Sunday School Picnic under
the big tent in Suffolk, VA, as well as a prayer breakfast at Nansemond
River Baptist Church. We also enjoyed Bible study in a local home. We
had the pleasure of staying with some wonderful friends there in
Suffolk.
After
Virginia and before Jim’s next gig, we stopped in the Boston area to
visit some Johnson family and to see a Red Sox game at historic Fenway
Park! And we stopped for some New England seafood at Newick’s of Dover,
NH. We had a great time!
We
then drove to Alton Bay, NH, and the Alton Bay Christian Conference
Center. Sunday July 1 had a high of 95, and the Tabernacle on campus has
no air conditioning. Yet, the people really came out, and the Spirit
truly moved! Jim also spoke three more times while we were there,
talking about staying teachable. ABCCC is full of friendly Christian
folks there in New Hampshire! It was truly a pleasure to share the Word
and Independence Day with our friends there.
The last few
days we got to catch up with good friends, Sean and Kim Doyle, and Jim
preached at Sean’s church, Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Essex
Fells, New Jersey. It was a blessing to encourage one another in the
Lord.
Tomorrow Jim and I are going to have a fun
day of riding rollercoasters at Hershey Park in Pennsylvania! Then we
will head south again to Suffolk, VA. Jim will teach a Sunday School
class, and then bring a message on Psalm 73 at Nansemond River Baptist
Church on Sunday, July 15. On July 16 he will teach a Bible study,
and the next day we will begin to make our way home, stopping to see my
parents in Gainesville on the way.
Thank you for all the prayers as we have
been on the road, and as we complete this trip! Your prayers are felt,
and God has truly blessed. Thank you!
